Two killed in Poso clash<\/p>\n
PALU, Central Sulawesi: Two people were killed and dozens of
\nhouses were set ablaze as fresh communal clashes erupted in
\nLombogia village in the Central Sulawesi town of Poso on Monday.<\/p>\n
Antara reported the fatalities were identified as Sunil
\nMarina, 26, and Yanto, 30. An official of the local state-run
\nhospital confirmed that the two died from gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n
The spokesman for the Central Sulawesi Police, Capt. Rudi
\nSuprapto, confirmed the incident. He did not confirm the deaths,
\nsaying he had yet to receive the report.<\/p>\n
Black smog resulting from the arson in some sections of town
\nblanketed the well-known tourist destination. To add to the
\ntension that gripped the small town, schools, shops and
\ngovernment and private offices were closed.<\/p>\n
Witnesses said the clashes were still under way around the
\ndowntown bus terminal as of Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
They said the fight flared following overnight clashes
\ninvolving youth groups in Lombogia and Lawanga villages. (emf)<\/p>",
