        "content": "<p>Two Indonesian prospective migrant workers (CPMI) were intercepted at\nSoekarno-Hatta Airport. Both were promised jobs as online gambling\nadmins in Cambodia under the guise of a holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Residency\u2019s crime investigation unit\nchief, Kompol Yandri Mono, explained the case was uncovered after\nofficers received information about two CPMI departing for Cambodia via\nTerminal 3 International of Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Saturday, 17\nJanuary 2026 at around 11:00 WIB.<\/p>\n<p>Both CPMI, identified as AG from Garut and SP from North Jakarta,\nwere due to travel via TransNusa Airlines from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur\nwith a connecting ticket on Cambodia Airways to Phnom Penh,\nCambodia.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Following investigations, both admitted to being recruited via\nsocial media and a WhatsApp group named \u201cLiburaaannnnn\u201d,\u2019 Yandri stated\nin a written statement to journalists on Wednesday (27 May 2026).<\/p>\n<p>Promised Online Gambling Admin Role<\/p>\n<p>The two CPMI were promised work as online gambling administrators\n(judol) with a monthly salary of approximately Rp 10 million. They were\nalso assured no travel costs would be incurred.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018RR is suspected of arranging travel tickets, directing the departure\nprocess, and connecting the CPMI with individuals assisting with\ncheck-in and immigration checks at the airport,\u2019 Yandri added.<\/p>\n<p>During the investigation, police also interviewed a man identified as\nRR. He confessed to being asked by someone identified as F to assist the\ntwo CPMI. \u2018RR admitted receiving a payment of Rp 500,000 for helping\nwith the airport departure process,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Findings revealed the CPMI were sent illegally without going through\nan Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Company (P3MI). They also lacked\nmigrant worker protection documents, had not undergone job training,\npre-departure briefings, or insurance coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Police seized evidence including the CPMI\u2019s two passports and\nboarding passes for flights to Kuala Lumpur and Phnom Penh. The\nperpetrators face charges under Article 83 in conjunction with Article\n68 and\/or Article 81 in conjunction with Article 69 of Law No.\u00a018 of\n2017 on the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers. \u2018They face a\nmaximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to Rp 15\nbillion,\u2019 Yandri stated.<\/p>\n<p>From January to May 2026, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Residency has\nthwarted 89 illegal CPMI departures bound for Cambodia, Vietnam, and\nThailand.<\/p>",
