        "content": "<p>Two Indonesian citizens who went viral after being held captive in\nMyanmar have been repatriated to Indonesia. The two women, identified as\noperators of an online scam syndicate, arrived back in the country on\nWednesday (29\/7).<\/p>\n<p>Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko of the Indonesian National\nPolice\u2019s International Relations Division previously confirmed that the\ntwo individuals, known as SS from Tanjungpinang and AE from West\nSumatra, were scam operators. They were held captive in Myawaddy, a\nregion on the Myanmar-Thailand border known to be a conflict zone\ncontrolled by rebel groups and a hub for scam operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Myanmar police also do not dare to enter because they are allegedly\nbeing held captive in a rebel area,\u2019 Untung stated.<\/p>\n<p>The two women, who suffered injuries during their captivity, were\nflown home via Thailand and Malaysia. Imam Riyadi, Head of the\nIndonesian Migrant Worker Protection Service Centre (BP3MI), confirmed\ntheir arrival. A viral video had previously circulated on social media\nshowing the two women in handcuffs, pleading for help to be returned to\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n<p>BP3MI in West Sumatra verified that one of the women, Ayu, is a\nresident of Agam Regency. Officials stated she is believed to have\ntravelled abroad through unofficial channels, as the agency had no\nrecord of her departure.<\/p>",
