Two foreigners arrested<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Immigration officials have arrested a Pakistani
\nand a Bangladeshi for illegally entering Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Immigration's director of supervision and operations Zaiman
\nNurmatias said yesterday that the Pakistani man, Muhammad Khan,
\nwas deported on April 15 because he had overstayed his visa.<\/p>\n
Khan, who held passport No. A 897678, was a journalist of the
\nKarachi-based Daily Anjam, Zaiman said.<\/p>\n
Khan was detained and interrogated soon after an immigration
\nofficial recognized Khan as looking similar to a foreigner who
\nwas deported recently.<\/p>\n
Zaiman said that Khan was also found using a different
\npassport, No. C 938753, under the name Jameel Ghulam Ali. \"Khan
\nwas immediately sent to an immigration quarantine center in
\nKalideres, West Jakarta,\" Zaiman said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi man, Jhontan Modal alias Bobby, was
\narrested in Langsa, Aceh, for not entering Indonesia through an
\nimmigration inspection site. He had no travel documents with him.<\/p>\n
Jhontan said that he entered Indonesia from Malaysia by boat
\nwith a female Indonesian friend Zainab.<\/p>\n
Zaiman said that the two foreigners violated Article 48 of
\nRegulation No. 9\/1992 on immigration, which stipulates that
\nviolators face a prison sentence of up to three years or a Rp 15
