Two explosions rock Ambon over weekend<\/p>\n

Two bombs exploded in separate locations in the city of Ambon on
\nSaturday, shaking the fragile peace in the troubled Maluku
\nprovince.<\/p>\n
No casualties were reported in the blasts.<\/p>\n
The first explosion took place at 8 p.m. behind a building on
\nthe border between the areas of Diponegoro and Urimesing. Two
\nhours later, another bomb exploded in the area of Ahuru.<\/p>\n
No members of either the Christian or Muslim groups that have
\nbeen involved in violence in the province were found near either
\nblast scene. Security personnel are investigating who may have
\nbeen responsible for the bombings.<\/p>\n
Locals are urging the civil emergency administration to launch
\na province-wide sweep to find those responsible for these
\nincidents.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the head of the civil emergency administration,
\nGovernor Saleh Latuconsina, has extended until June 30 the
\ndeadline for people to surrender their weapons. The arms
\nsurrender is part of the February peace deal signed in Malino.<\/p>\n
\"But weapons sweeps are ongoing. Those caught carrying weapons
\nbefore the deadline will still be brought before the law,\" he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The weapons sweeps, which had been halted by Ambon Military
\nCommander Col. E.H. Lubis, will be reactivated, Saleh said.<\/p>\n
The spokesman for the Maluku administration, Izack Saimima,
\nadded that the administration had decided to revive the midnight
\nto 6 a.m. curfew, and to prohibit the hanging of banners without
\napproval.<\/p>",
