Two dead, one missing in Lampung floods<\/p>\n

Two people died, other went missing and four houses were swept
\naway in floods in West Lampung and Tanggamus regencies on
\nWednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n
The flooding also caused a landslide on a main road connecting
\nthe two regencies, leading to heavy road congestion.<\/p>\n
The remains of Taskir and Tarwuji were found floating on a
\nriver and at sea respectively in West Lampung regency, while
\nAfrizal was swept away by a strong current while bathing in a
\nriver with friends on Thursday. A search and rescue team is
\nlooking for him.<\/p>\n
The flooding also caused traffic congestion from Wednesday
\nthrough Thursday night on a road in Kubuperahu subdistrict, West
\nLampung, due to a landslide that closed off the road after heavy
\nrain. The incident caused long lines of cars and motorcycles
\nwaiting to get through, including a car belonging to Lampung
\nprovincial councillor Christimore.<\/p>\n
Road operator firm PT Bina Marga was advised of the situation
\nand head of its task force in Lampung, Muhammad Rasyid, ordered
\nthe deployment of heavy machinery to the area.<\/p>\n
Separately in Tanggamus regency, heavy rain has caused the
\nJelai River to overflow. Four houses were reportedly swept away
\nby a strong current while another house was severely damaged. An
\nenvironmentalist, Mukri Priatna, said the flooding and landslide
\nwas caused by rampant illegal logging in the two regencies.
\nIllegal logging is thought to take place in South Bukit Barisan
\nNational Park, which is located in the two regencies.<\/p>",
