Gondangdia, Central Jakarta, was staged<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The first strike, which ended on Sunday evening, was triggered<br>\nby the management's refusal of the workers' demands on wages and<br>\nbenefits and the rejection of a request to form a union.<\/p>\n<p>Sujito Tamtomo, head of the Jakarta branch of the All<br>\nIndonesian Workers Union Federation, said a union branch was<br>\nformed on Sunday evening with Ahmad Habib as the elected chairman<br>\nand Sugiono as his deputy.<\/p>\n<p>Sujito and an employee who requested anonymity said employees<br>\nstaged the second strike because the management suspended Ahmad<br>\nand Sugiono indefinitely.<\/p>\n<p>The hotel management, PT Menteng Sarana Wisata, was not<br>\navailable for comment.
