Police have detained two suspects who bullied a six-year-old boy\nuntil he was electrocuted at Taman Kramat, Kramat Village, Senen\nDistrict, Central Jakarta. One of the suspects is still a minor.<\/p>\n
\u201cBoth suspects have been detained. One is 17 years old, the other is\nstill a minor,\u201d said Central Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head,\nIptu Erlyn Sumantri, when contacted on Friday (12\/6).<\/p>\n
Erlyn stated that the adult suspect is currently in custody.\nMeanwhile, the minor suspect has been returned to his parents but will\nstill face legal proceedings.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne is detained, one is returned to his parents but the report is\nstill being processed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Head of the PPA-PPO Unit at Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Rita\nOktavia, said the incident occurred on Sunday (7\/6). Rita explained that\nthe victim and the suspects were playing together at the park at the\ntime. She noted that the suspects and the victim are playmates and\nneighbours.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were already many children there. The suspected perpetrators\u2019\nhouses are close by, not far, perhaps within the same community unit\n(RW) as the victim\u2019s family. So, they are indeed playmates,\u201d Rita told\nreporters on Friday (12\/6).<\/p>\n
Victim Dragged to Pole and Electrocuted<\/p>\n
The two suspected perpetrators then lifted the victim\u2019s body. They\nswung him and carried him towards a lamp post in the park.<\/p>\n
\u201cEventually, perhaps they already had the intention, they held his\nhands and feet, then swung him, until his legs were spread apart and he\nwas placed against the middle of the pole,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
Rita said the suspects then pressed the victim\u2019s feet against the\nlamp post. At that moment, the victim was allegedly electrocuted and\nsubsequently fell unconscious.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt seems the tips of his feet were placed on the pole. That\u2019s why we\nwant to find out if, by doing that, they already knew the pole was\nelectrified. The victim then lost consciousness,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
Afterwards, the suspected perpetrators appeared to panic because the\nvictim had been electrocuted. One of the suspects then pulled the victim\naway from the pole.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey panicked, and eventually one of the suspected perpetrators\npulled the child away from the pole, and he fell. Then, because he was\nunconscious, the suspected perpetrator carried the victim back to his\nhouse,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
The police are still conducting a series of investigations into the\nbullying case. The victim\u2019s condition is now gradually improving.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also want to find out whether this pole had an electrical voltage\nor not. It is suspected that the child was electrocuted, hit by a\nvoltage. So, we are trying to find that out, and also whether these\nchildren knew that the pole had an electrical voltage.
