Two members of a joint response team who were injured while fighting\na forest and land fire in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS)\nhave been taken to Dr Soetomo Regional General Hospital in Surabaya for\nsurgery to treat their burns.<\/p>\n
The two are Munawi, from the Masyarakat Peduli Api (MMP TLP)\ncommunity fire-watch unit, and Suraji, a security guard at a hotel near\nthe fire.<\/p>\n
They were transferred from Tongas Regional General Hospital in\nProbolinggo regency to Dr Soetomo for more intensive medical treatment\nfollowing the incident.<\/p>\n
Adin Niken Primasari, a member of the legal, public relations and\nmarketing unit at Dr Soetomo Hospital, confirmed that both patients were\nadmitted to the emergency department on Thursday evening (15\nOctober).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first patient was admitted to the emergency department at\n8.45pm. Surgery began in the early hours and is still under way,\u201d Niken\nsaid on Friday (16 October).<\/p>\n
The second patient arrived at Dr Soetomo less than an hour later and\nwas also scheduled to undergo surgery.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe second patient was admitted at 9.36pm. Surgery is planned, and\nthe patient is currently under observation in the resuscitation unit,\u201d\nshe said.<\/p>\n
Dr Soetomo Hospital has not released further information about the\nseverity of the burns or the current condition of either responder.<\/p>\n
At the time of publication, medical teams remained focused on\nlife-saving treatment and surgery in the resuscitation and operating\nrooms.<\/p>\n
