Two bogus policemen shot dead<\/p>\n
DENPASAR, Bali: Denpasar Police shot and killed two men who
\nallegedly posed as traffic officers in order to steal
\nmotorcycles.<\/p>\n
The suspects, identified as 27-year-old Widodo Eko and
\n25-year-old Joko Riyanto, were killed on Wednesday when they
\nattempted to flee from officers escorting them to the garage
\nwhere they allegedly kept the stolen motorcycles, Denpasar Police
\nchief Adj. Com. Helmy Santika said.<\/p>\n
The shooting took place on a secluded street in Ubung, on the
\nnorthern outskirts of Denpasar.<\/p>\n
Helmy said the police were still holding 28-year-old
\nSukriyanto in custody, who was also allegedly involved in the
\nmotorcycle thefts.<\/p>\n
The three suspects were arrested two days ago, following a
\ntip-off from their neighbors in Suwung, who told the police the
\ntwo criminals were stashing motorcycle spare parts in their
\nrented house.<\/p>\n
Locals also told police they frequently saw the two men riding
\ndifferent brands and types of motorcycles. --JP<\/p>",
