Serang Police Chief, AKBP Andri Kurniawan, stated that the two\nsuspects, AA (30) and HE (42), were apprehended while attempting to\ncarry out another scam at an ATM in a minimarket on Jalan Raya PLP\nCurug, Tangerang Regency.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe disclosure of this case is a follow-up to a report from a victim\nwho lost IDR 139 million from their savings account after falling victim\nto an ATM card scam,\u201d said Andri, Saturday (16\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n
The incident occurred on April 15, 2026. At that time, the victim,\nidentified as PS (32), was attempting to withdraw money from an ATM\ninside a minimarket in Kampung Puyuh Koneng, Pontang District, Serang\nRegency.<\/p>\n
During the transaction, the victim\u2019s ATM card suddenly became stuck\nin the machine and could not be retrieved. In a state of panic, the\nvictim was approached by someone standing behind them who offered to\nhelp.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe perpetrator then instructed the victim to press one of the\nbuttons and enter their ATM PIN. However, the card still did not come\nout, so the victim eventually went home,\u201d explained Andri Kurniawan.<\/p>\n
After arriving home, the victim realized that IDR 139 million from\ntheir bank account had disappeared. The victim then reported the\nincident to the Serang Police.<\/p>\n
Based on the victim\u2019s report and the results of the investigation,\nthe Resmob Team of the Criminal Investigation Unit, led by Ipda Athallah\nThoriq and Aipda Sutrisno, finally managed to track down the\nperpetrators. The two were then apprehended while they were about to\ncarry out another scam in Tangerang Regency.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe perpetrators were apprehended while they were about to carry out\ntheir actions in front of Indomaret Sukabakti, Curug District, Tangerang\nRegency,\u201d said Andri.<\/p>\n
After successfully apprehending the two suspects, officers\nimmediately searched the vehicle and belongings of the perpetrators.\nFrom the search, officers found several tools allegedly used to carry\nout the ATM card scam.<\/p>\n
From the interrogation, it was revealed that both perpetrators were\nspecialists in ATM card scams and had carried out the crime dozens of\ntimes. They have reportedly carried out similar scams in 15 locations\nwithin the jurisdiction of the Serang Police and 10 locations in\nTangerang.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Serang\nPolice, AKP Andi Kurniady ES, said that one of the perpetrators, AA, is\na repeat offender for the same crime. Meanwhile, another perpetrator is\nstill at large.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccording to the suspects, there is still one other perpetrator who\nis currently at large and being pursued by officers,\u201d said Andi.<\/p>\n
According to Andi, they always operate at ATMs in minimarkets. They\nhave been working together for four months.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey hang out in minimarkets while monitoring victims,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Both suspects have been detained. The evidence seized includes one\nPCX motorcycle used as a means of transportation, 50 ATM cards, two\nhacksaws, seven pieces of toothpick, and two packs of toothpicks used as\ntools to jam the ATM cards.
