Two armed robbers apprehended<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Two street criminals armed with sharp weapons
\nwere apprehended by passers-by at different locations in the
\ncapital on Wednesday thanks to the alerting screams of the
\nvictims.<\/p>\n
Another crook managed to escape from the crowd.<\/p>\n
The incidents took place at Pulogadung bus terminal in East
\nJakarta and Jl. Mangga Besar in the Taman Sari area of West
\nJakarta respectively, city police spokesman Lt. Col. Zainuri
\nLubis said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The Pulogadung scene occurred at around 10 p.m. when female
\nvictim Mursiah, 30, of Kampung Rawa Selatan in Johar Baru,
\nCentral Jakarta, was waiting for a bus inside the intercity bus
\nterminal.<\/p>\n
"Suddenly, the suspect, Simamora, 25, approached her and
\npointed a knife at her and asked the woman to take off her
\nnecklace," Lubis said.<\/p>\n
However, Mursiah dared to scream for help which then alerted
\npassers-by at the bus terminal.<\/p>\n
Simamora was then caught and taken to the nearby police
\nstation for questioning.<\/p>\n
One hour later, 61-year old Ana Chandra was walking down the
\nstreet on busy Jl. Mangga Besar when two men, later identified as
\nSarifudin, 23, and his accomplice Nurdin Al-Azis, 27, suddenly
\nblocked her way.<\/p>\n
"Pointing a sickle at her, the two crooks ordered Ana to hand
\nover her handbag," Lubis said, adding that the handbag only
\ncontained spectacles and a shirt belonging to the elderly woman.<\/p>\n
Before the two managed to flee with the stolen handbag, Ana
\nscreamed for help which alerted nearby residents.<\/p>\n
But Nurdin managed to escape from the mob when they were
\ntrying to encircle Sarifudin, who was carrying the sickle.<\/p>\n
