Tunisia establishes consulate in Yogya<\/p>\n
YOGYAKARTA: In a bid to improve the bilateral relationship
\nbetween Indonesia and the Republic of Tunisia, an honorary
\nconsulate has been established in Yogyakarta, the first ever in
\nthe province.<\/p>\n
Its establishment was marked jointly on Wednesday by Tunisian
\nAmbassador to Indonesia Mohammed Mouldi Kefi and Yogyakarta
\nGovernor Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.<\/p>\n
Newly appointed Honorary Consul Moetaryanto said that the
\nestablishment of the Yogyakarta consulate was mostly because
\nthere were many similarities between Tunisia and Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n
These included the fact that the economy of both regions was
\ndominated by small and medium-sized enterprises.<\/p>\n
The establishment of the consulate, he said, would hopefully
\ncreate more marketing opportunities for Yogyakarta commodities,
\nespecially furniture and handicraft products, to enter the
\nEuropean market via Tunisia.<\/p>\n
"It's true that as finishing is done in Tunisia, the products
\nwill be marketed with Tunisian brands. However, I don't think
\nthat will be a problem," Moetaryanto said.<\/p>\n
Kefi, similarly, said that Tunisia and Indonesia had long
\nenjoyed good relations. Establishment of the consulate in
\nYogyakarta, he said, would hopefully strengthen them. -- JP<\/p>",
