Local residents expressed disappointment over the lack of access to this public space, which typically hosts recreational activities like the Car Free Day event and features facilities such as a deer park and mini zoo.

Tulungagung, East Java (ANTARA) - The main gate of the Tulungagung
Regency pendopo in East Java, which also serves as the regent’s official
residence, remains tightly shut following the Corruption Eradication
Commission (KPK) sting operation some time ago. Observations at the site
on Sunday showed that the closure of the main gate began on Friday
evening (10/4), shortly after the arrest of Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo. No
outsiders are permitted to enter, including during the Car Free Day
(CFD) activities, which are usually opened to allow residents to enjoy
public facilities and the atmosphere of the deer park or mini zoo
located within the Pendopo complex. Several residents expressed
disappointment at being unable to access the pendopo area, which has
long been open to the public, especially on weekends. “It is usually
opened in the morning, but when I arrived it was still closed,” one
said. The pendopo has traditionally served as a public space utilised by
the community for recreational activities and social interactions. The
closure of access without official information is seen as reducing
public comfort in utilising the available public facilities. To date,
there has been no official statement from the relevant parties regarding
the reasons for the closure or the time when the pendopo area will
reopen. The public hopes that the management of public spaces will
continue to consider aspects of information openness and the
sustainability of services for residents.
",
