        "content": "<p>Try opens Yogyakarta festival<\/p>\n<p>YOGYAKARTA (JP): Indonesians should do everything possible to<br>\nsafeguard their widely diverse culture in order to preserve the<br>\ncountry's strong national pride, Vice President Try Sutrisno said<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\"The public should have the opportunity to take an active part<br>\nin cultural development and to enjoy the fruits of their labors,\"<br>\nTry said when opening the Yogyakarta Arts Festival at the<br>\nYogyakarta Kraton (palace).<\/p>\n<p>The festival, which lasts until July 7, also features art<br>\nshows presented by Yogyakarta's four regencies and one mayoralty.<\/p>\n<p>The Vice President called for the preservation and development<br>\nof traditional arts in the regencies.<\/p>\n<p>Chief of the festival organizing committee Wibowo told The<br>\nJakarta Post that 12 Asian and European countries will screen<br>\ncultural films during the event.<\/p>\n<p>\"The main attractions of this year's festival are a gamelan<br>\n(Javanese orchestra) show and an art bazaar.
