According to the talk, the People's Consultative Assembly
\n(MPR) will convene its special session on Aug. 1. Some say the
\nMPR's plan to proceed with the special session is
\nunconstitutional, while others take the opposite stand. President
\nAbdurrahman Wahid has already agreed to the upcoming special
\nsession, and more interesting to note is there are some parties
\nwho want to move the session forward.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, there are rumors in the media about vice
\npresidential candidates, such as Hamzah Haz and Yusril Ihza
\nMahendra from the ranks of the political parties, and Susilo
\nBambang Yudhoyono from the professional circle. Some people again
\nthink it is ethical to discuss vice presidential candidates,
\nwhile others don't think it's ethical. It all depends on people's
\nown judgments.<\/p>\n
In this context the governors of Java recently met in
\nYogyakarta, at the initiative of the Yogyakarta governor, and
\nissued the Yogya Declaration.<\/p>\n
At the grassroots level, I hope the upcoming MPR special
\nsession will be constitutional, orderly and peaceful, so that it
\ncan arrive at the best solution to solve problems threatening the
\nnation's unity and integrity.<\/p>\n
I believe and trust that MPR members can perform their tasks
\nwell. All of us should honor whatever is the outcome of the
\nupcoming special session of the MPR.<\/p>\n
