REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHERAN \u2014 The Speaker of the Islamic Republic of\nIran\u2019s Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has refuted accusations\nfrom Israeli media labelling him as the \u2018important person\u2019 version of US\nPresident Donald Trump in negotiations to end the war. Ghalibaf\nemphasised that the entire Iranian society, including himself, remains\nsteadfast in their commitment to retaliate against Zionist-US\naggression.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe entire Iranian people desire a commensurate punishment that\ncauses very serious regret from the aggressors Israel and the United\nStates,\u201d said Ghalibaf, as quoted from the Mehr News Telegram channel on\nTuesday (24\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
Ghalibaf\u2019s statement responds to speculation and divisive efforts\nagainst Iran\u2019s leadership stemming from Israeli reports claiming he is a\nrepresentative from Tehran discussing with Trump to accept a war\ncessation.<\/p>\n
Mehr News stated that Ghalibaf, like all leaders and officials,\nadheres to the stance shared by the entire Iranian people to ignore all\nproposals for dialogue or war cessation talks. Ghalibaf described the\nIsraeli reports naming him as Tehran\u2019s \u2018important person\u2019 communicating\nwith Washington to negotiate Trump\u2019s threats as nonsense.<\/p>\n
\u201cReports of negotiations with Washington are fake news from Israel,\u201d\nhe said. Ghalibaf also believes that Donald Trump\u2019s statements\nwithdrawing major US military threats against Iran\u2019s power generation\nfacilities are merely an attempt to calm market turmoil in crisis due to\nthe closure of the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuch fake news aims to manipulate financial and oil markets to help\nthe United States and the Israeli regime escape difficult pressures,\u201d\nGhalibaf stated.<\/p>\n
Previously, the Israeli media Ynetnews leaked with whom US President\nDonald Trump was in contact for discussions with parties in Tehran,\nleading to the US postponing attacks on Iran\u2019s power generation and\nenergy facilities. Ynetnews claimed that Washington was communicating\nwith an important person in Tehran, namely Iran\u2019s Parliament Speaker\nMohammad Bagher Qalibaf.<\/p>\n
\u201cUS-Iran talks are being held with Parliament Speaker Qalibaf,\u201d\nstated Ynetnews Breaking News, also quoted by the Turkish news agency\nAnadolu Agency on Monday (23\/3\/2026). According to the Ynetnews report,\nthe discussions were not only about Trump\u2019s threats to bombard Iran\u2019s\npower plants related to the limited blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.\nHowever, the report indicated that the talks also addressed the\nUS-proposed plan to end the war.<\/p>\n
