        "content": "<p>Washington (ANTARA) \u2013 US President Donald Trump has affirmed that\nIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces no risk of being\narrested by law enforcement whenever he decides to visit the United\nStates.<\/p>\n<p>Trump issued the statement after New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, in an\ninterview with The New York Times on Saturday (18 July), described\nNetanyahu as a war criminal who \u2018should be in The Hague\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani also stated that he would comply with the laws applicable in\nNew York City. He said discussions were currently under way regarding\nthe authority held by the city government under local regulations\nconcerning his pledge to detain Netanyahu should the Israeli leader come\nto New York.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested, in any shape or form, while\nhe is in the United States,\u2019 Trump wrote on the Truth Social\nplatform.<\/p>\n<p>Trump added that Netanyahu was fighting against the Islamic Republic\nof Iran.<\/p>\n<p>The US president also stressed that it was Iran\u2019s leaders who should\nbe imprisoned, claiming they had led the country into a \u2018spiral of death\nand destruction unprecedented in history\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018That should have been dealt with years ago by previous presidents,\u2019\nTrump continued.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2025, ahead of the 80th UN General Assembly, Mamdani,\nwho was then still a mayoral candidate, declared that he would issue an\narrest warrant for Netanyahu if he were elected mayor of New York and\nNetanyahu came to the city.<\/p>",
