        "content": "<p>Beijing \u2014 China\u2019s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that\nthe country continues to maintain open communication with all parties to\nreduce tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. This was conveyed while\nresponding to questions from journalists regarding US President Donald\nTrump\u2019s request in an interview with American media that China should\nplay a role and provide assistance in restoring shipping activities in\nthe Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to maintain communication with all parties regarding the\ncurrent situation and remain committed to easing existing tensions,\u201d Lin\nJian said at a press conference in Beijing on Monday, 16 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, on Sunday, 15 March 2026, Trump stated that he had\nrequested approximately seven nations to join a coalition that would\nescort ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
