The administration of US President Donald Trump is secretly\nconsidering Iran\u2019s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as a\npotential partner and even future leader. Ghalibaf is reportedly the\nparty from Iran negotiating with the Trump administration to end the\nwar.<\/p>\n
According to a Politico report cited by Anadolu Agency on Tuesday\n(24\/3\/2026), quoting two administration officials, the report states\nthat Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf is viewed by at least some people in the\nWhite House as a reliable partner who can lead Iran and negotiate with\nthe Trump administration in the next phase of the war.<\/p>\n
The officials said the White House is not yet ready to commit to any\none person. \u201cHe is an interesting option,\u201d one administration official\nsaid, according to Politico.<\/p>\n

Donald Trump said on Monday (23\/3) that there would be a \u201cvery\nserious regime change\u201d in Iran. He added that the change has begun\nbecause \u201ceveryone has been killed\u201d from the previous leadership.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey have only just started. Regime change will happen\nautomatically, but we are dealing with some people who I think are very\nreasonable, very solid,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to Politico, one official said that Trump does not want to\nseize Kharg Island, Iran\u2019s main oil centre, because he hopes the next\nleader will make a deal similar to the one made by then-Venezuelan Vice\nPresident Delcy Rodriguez, who took over after President Nicolas Maduro\nwas arrested in January.<\/p>\n

According to Al Jazeera, Mohammed Ghalibaf, a parliamentary speaker,\nhas reportedly emerged as a central figure in negotiations with the US\nto end the war against Iran.<\/p>\n
Although US media reports indicate that Ghalibaf is the person in\nTehran that the US wants to negotiate with, the senior leader said \u201cno\nnegotiations have been conducted\u201d. He also mocked Trump\u2019s war tactics on\nsocial media.<\/p>\n
