The assertion, reported by Fox News on\nTuesday, was made by Trump while speaking to reporters in the Oval\nOffice on Monday. He discussed plans for a high-level meeting between\nthe US and Iran in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday. Trump stated that the talks\nwould focus on Iran\u2019s nuclear programme, particularly denuclearisation.\nTehran has previously denied Trump\u2019s claims, insisting there are no\nplans for a meeting or negotiations with Washington in Qatar in the near\nfuture. \u201cThe meeting in Doha might be important, it might not be. We\u2019ll\nsee,\u201d Trump told reporters whilst signing his latest executive orders.\n\u201cIt\u2019s about the denuclearisation of Iran. We don\u2019t want them to have\nnuclear weapons, and they won\u2019t have nuclear weapons. They have agreed\nto that,\u201d he claimed. In a statement via Truth Social on Monday, Trump\nsaid Iran had requested the meeting with the US in Doha. The White House\nindicated that US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and\nTrump\u2019s adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner would attend the meeting.\nSpeaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump insisted the US-Iran\ndelegation meeting would take place in Qatar on Tuesday. \u201cThere will be\na meeting on that tomorrow,\u201d Trump said on Monday. \u201cWe\u2019ll see how it\ngoes. But we\u2019re doing very well on that front.\u201d Iran\u2019s President Masoud\nPezeshkian, in a statement on Monday, reiterated Tehran\u2019s long-standing\nposition on its nuclear activities. He said the late Supreme Leader\nAyatollah Ali Khamenei had \u201cclearly stated that Iran has no intention of\nmaking nuclear weapons\u201d and that Iran maintains the same stance. \u201cWe\nassure the international community that these activities will be\nutilised according to immediate needs and within the framework of our\nestablished policies,\u201d Pezeshkian said, according to ISNA news agency\nand Middle East Monitor. In a separate statement on X, Pezeshkian said\nIran is committed to a memorandum of understanding with the US, provided\nWashington also fulfils its obligations.
