        "content": "<p>Los Angeles (ANTARA) - The Donald Trump administration on Tuesday\n(February 24) filed a lawsuit against the University of California (UC)\nover what it says is \u201ccreating a hostile work environment for Jewish and\nIsraeli faculty and staff on the University of California Los Angeles\n(UCLA) campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit, filed in federal district court in Los Angeles, alleges\nthat the university \u201cturned a blind eye to, and sometimes facilitated,\ninappropriate antisemitism and systematically ignored requests for help\nfrom Jewish and Israeli employees who felt threatened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on our investigation, UCLA administrators allegedly allowed\nvirulent antisemitism to flourish on campus, endangering both students\nand staff,\u201d said US Attorney General Pamela Bondi in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2025, the Trump administration suspended approximately $584\nmillion in federal research grants to UCLA, citing the university\u2019s\nalleged failure to address antisemitism. In August, the Trump\nadministration demanded that UCLA pay $1 billion in damages to settle\nthe antisemitism allegations.<\/p>\n<p>A federal judge in the Northern District of California ordered the\nTrump administration to restore $500 million in UCLA\u2019s medical research\ngrants in September.<\/p>\n<p>In the spring of 2024, a wave of pro-Palestinian protests spread\nacross college campuses in the US, including several of the 10 UC\ncampuses. More than 200 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested on May\n2, 2024, when police moved to break up an encampment at UCLA.<\/p>",
