        "content": "<p>`True Lies'<\/p>\n<p>From Sinar Pagi<\/p>\n<p>A local newspaper carrying the story of True Lies on its front<br>\npage on Sept. 27 incited the public to pressure the government to<br>\nban the film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.<\/p>\n<p>I saw the film twice along with capacity crowds in Pamulang,<br>\nmostly Moslems for that matter, and resent the opinion Umar Kayam<br>\nexpressed in the paper.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that Kayam identifies the Arabs in the film as<br>\nIslamic. Viewers perceived them as human beings who call<br>\nthemselves terrorists. All societies around the world hate<br>\nterrorists irrespective of their race or religion simply because<br>\nof their cruelty.<\/p>\n<p>Umar Kayam should think before he speaks. Don't look down on<br>\nTrue Lies. The audience were left hating those sadistic Arab<br>\nterrorists. Umar Kayam who has a stake in film development should<br>\nimprove the quality of Indonesian films whose scripts are now<br>\nplagued with filth. He should learn to make a crowd-drawing films<br>\nlike True Lies or Speed.<\/p>\n<p>Or he should go to Hollywood as I once did where I saw the<br>\nfilming of Jaws.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesian films draw small audiences when run in Pamulang and<br>\nthey can stay only for a few nights. Take the one starring my own<br>\nnephew, Ayu Azhari, that at least drew a crowd. The cinema owner,<br>\nI think, still did not realize a profit.<\/p>\n<p>Hence, please do not judge True Lies from a religious point<br>\nof view, but from humanity aspect.
