Jakarta (ANTARA) - A PLN electricity cable was severed and left\ndraped across Jalan Kembangan Baru in the Kembangan Utara subdistrict of\nKembangan, West Jakarta, after being struck by a lorry on Monday.<\/p>\n
As a result, traffic at the location was temporarily hampered. Road\nusers were reluctant to pass through for fear of being electrocuted by\nthe cable.<\/p>\n
Even pedestrians chose to detour off the carriageway rather than walk\nover the cable lying across the road.<\/p>\n
The severed cable went viral on social media after a motorcyclist\nrecorded a video of the cable stretched across the road. The rider was\nworried that the broken PLN cable might emit sparks that could spread to\nnearby buildings.<\/p>\n
The video showed residents gathering at a distance. On either side of\nthe severed cable, residents had placed barriers to prevent\nmotorcyclists from passing through in the meantime.<\/p>\n
The Head of Operations Section (Kasiops) of the West Jakarta Fire and\nRescue Sub-department (Gulkarmat), Syaiful Kahfi, confirmed in Jakarta\non Monday that PLN is currently carrying out repairs.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is now being handled by PLN,\u201d Syaiful said via text message to\nANTARA in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n
He said that so far there have been no reports of casualties from the\nincident.
