Trisakti and foundation to create law program<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Trisakti University and Winaya Dharma
\nFoundation\/Institute of Business Law Studies agreed yesterday to
\ncooperate to improve education in economic and international
\nbusiness law.<\/p>\n
The agreement was signed by the foundation's chairperson,
\nC.F.G. Sunaryati Hartono, and Trisakti University's rector, R.
\nMoedanton Moertedjo.<\/p>\n
The signing formalized the creation of a certificate program
\nfor students with an undergraduate degree in law who intend to
\nspecialize in economics or international business law.<\/p>\n
Established on Sept. 27, 1996 by Forum Indonesia-Nederland,
\nWinaya Dharma is devoted to legal research and education,
\nparticularly on economic and international business law,
\npromoting intellectual exchanges with other legal bodies and
\nproviding information, research opportunities and scholarships.<\/p>\n
Former finance minister Radius Prawiro is chairman of Winaya
\nDharma's advisory board.<\/p>\n
The foundation set up the Institute of Business Law Studies
\non Feb. 7, 1997, to offer a comprehensive program in economic and
\ninternational business law.<\/p>\n
The institute offers 28 courses, divided into eight modules.
\nThose who complete at least six modules will receive a
\ncertificate of proficiency in economic and international business
\nlaw. Trisakti University will provide logistical necessities for
\nthe course.<\/p>\n
The Foundation has obtained assistance and cooperation from
\nthe University of Indonesia's school of law, Atma Jaya
\nUniversity, Leiden University of the Netherlands, Centre for
\nInternational Legal Cooperation and the Economic Law and Improved
\nProcurement System Project of Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\"The program is partly intended to prepare Indonesian students
\nto deal with a broad range of corporate cases and international
\nlegal issues, such as foreign arbitral awards, and working
\nprofessionally with foreign lawyers in Indonesia,\" Sunaryati
\nHartono said.<\/p>\n
The program's courses include maritime law, energy and mining
\nlaw, environmental law, computer and telecommunications law,
\nintellectual property law and insurance law.<\/p>\n
Minister of Justice Oetojo Oesman has approved the program and
\nintends to work with the foundation to improve the judiciary's
