Trigger-happy officer under fire<\/p>\n

Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani said that a low-
\nranking officer, identified as Chief Brig. IBN, may be taken to
\ncourt for allegedly discharging his firearm during a brawl at
\nCentro Discotheque, Dharmawangsa Building, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\"We are holding him and other police officers for questioning
\nby the Jakarta Police internal affairs division,\" Firman said on
\nMonday.<\/p>\n
\"They may face a disciplinary hearing or civilian court for
\nallegedly visiting a discotheque and carrying firearms while not
\non duty,\" he added.<\/p>\n
Jakarta Police internal affairs division questioned the
\nsuspect, who is a detective at South Jakarta police station, over
\nthe incident on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
They have also questioned three of IBN's colleagues that night
\nas witnesses: Brig. Sdl, an officer at Jakarta traffic police;
\nAdj. Second Brig. Nrt, a student at the police school; and Comr.
\nSR, a narcotics detective at the National Police.<\/p>\n
They were questioned in response to complaints filed
\nseparately with the police by Dharmawangsa Building management
\nand by Raditya, a son of lawyer Henry Yosodiningrat who claimed
\nhe was assaulted by IBN and his friends at Centro.<\/p>\n
Information gathered by The Jakarta Post revealed that on
\nSaturday night, IBN, along with his girlfriend, and his friends
\nSdl, Nrt and an unidentified civilian, visited Centro.<\/p>\n
In the disco, SR was reported to have made a pass at IBN's
\ngirlfriend, infuriating IBN, who was drunk.<\/p>\n
IBN and his three friends assaulted SR outside the disco.
\nRaditya, who was about to leave Centro, recognized SR as his
\nfather's friend and tried to help him.<\/p>\n
IBN turned to Raditya and chased him while pointing a gun at
\nhim while one of his friends pointing a sickle at Raditya, who
\nwas later rescued by security guards.<\/p>\n
As the brawl got uglier, IBN fired his weapon into the air
\nseveral times, causing Centro visitors to panic.<\/p>\n
Afterwards, IBN's group ran to cafe La Vonta nearby, where
\nthey had parked their vehicles. Sugeng, the parking attendant,
\nsaid that IBN rode a Harley Davidson, while three others got into
\ntheir own vehicles. When Sugeng tried to stop them as they had
\nnot yet paid the parking fees, IBN pointed his gun at Sugeng,
\nordering him to raise the barrier.<\/p>\n
Jakarta Police internal affairs division arrested for
\nquestioning on Sunday all of the policemen involved in the brawl.<\/p>",
