The Military Court II-08 in Jakarta will conduct an open trial for the acid attack on KontraS deputy coordinator Andrie Yunus without involving ad hoc judges, as confirmed by its head, Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto, who emphasized that the case falls under military jurisdiction due to the involvement of four TNI soldiers from BAIS. This decision follows Vice President Gibran Rakabuming's earlier suggestion for professional ad hoc judges to ensure fairness, highlighting the government's commitment under President Prabowo Subianto to a transparent and accountable judicial system. The incident occurred on 12 March 2026, underscoring ongoing concerns about justice and public trust in handling cases involving military personnel.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Head of the Military Court II-08 Jakarta,
Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto, has assured that the trial for the
acid attack case against the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for
Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, will be
held openly without involving ad hoc judges.

“The panel has not been appointed yet, because the procedure requires
me to examine the file, to review and check whether the file meets the
formal and material requirements. If it does, it will be registered,”
said Fredy at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Thursday
(16/4/2026).

“Once registered, I will appoint the judges, and the appointment of
judges will be in the form of a determination. So, the determination of
judges and all of them will be career judges, military judges. So, not
ad hoc judges,” he continued.

“It has all been entered into that. If it were to go to civilian
court, it would be the wrong channel. The channel is wrong. Because the
current legitimate channel is the military court,” said Fredy.

He explained that the trial is being conducted in the military court
because the defendants are TNI soldiers who are the legal subjects in
this case.

This case involves four TNI BAIS soldiers, namely Captain Nandala Dwi
Prasetia (NDP), Lieutenant Sami Lakka (SL), Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto
Widhi (BHW), and Sergeant Edi Sudarko (ES).

“Are the subjects military? If we look at the four defendants, they
are military, so it falls under the subject matter. Absolute
jurisdiction applies. For relative jurisdiction, is the locus in
Jakarta? As friends know from yesterday, the locus is around Cipto
Hospital, yes, Salemba with Cipto Hospital, that falls in Jakarta,”
explained Fredy.

“Then, from their unit, does their unit fall under the jurisdiction
of the Jakarta Military Court? It turns out it does fall under our legal
jurisdiction. Therefore, both absolute and relative jurisdiction apply,”
he stated.

Previously, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran
Rakabuming, had proposed involving ad hoc judges from professional
circles in the trial of the acid attack case against KontraS Deputy
Coordinator Andrie Yunus.

Gibran emphasised that the government under the leadership of
President Prabowo Subianto is committed to strengthening the judicial
system to make it fairer and more trusted.

Gibran also wanted justice not only to be enforced but also to be
believed by the public.

“Justice must be present tangibly in the midst of society, and the
legal process must run honestly, openly, and accountably,” he added.

The acid attack incident on Andrie Yunus occurred on Thursday night
(12/3/2026).
",
