        "content": "<p>Trees lose to towns<\/p>\n<p>SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: Most towns in the province find it<br>\ndifficult to reserve 30 percent of their area for wooded parks<br>\ndue to population pressure, an official claims.<\/p>\n<p>Chief of the East Kalimantan chapter of the Real Estate<br>\nIndonesia (REI) Ichwanuttaqwa said Thursday that rapid population<br>\ngrowth has forced the construction of more and more residential<br>\nareas.<\/p>\n<p>The \"city forestation\" scheme is especially difficult to<br>\nimplement in fast growing Samarinda and Balikpapan, he said, as<br>\nreported by Antara.<\/p>\n<p>He added that REI supports the government's scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Samarinda has 12 parks covering much less than the<br>\nsuggested 30 percent of the total city area.
