Transviet to open RI offices<\/p>\n
SURABAYA (JP) : Transviet Tours, a member of Vietnam's
\nTransViet Travel Group will open representative offices in
\nIndonesia this year to promote the country's tourism to affluent
\nIndonesians.<\/p>\n
Nguyen Hai, the chairman of the Vietnamese travel group, said
\nhere on Thursday that the representative offices would be opened
\nin Jakarta and Surabaya.<\/p>\n
\"We will probably become the first Vietnamese travel agent in
\nIndonesia. We see a big potential market for tourists from
\nIndonesia,\" said Hai, who is now in Surabaya preparing for the
\nopening of his company's branches.<\/p>\n
At present, Transviet has representatives in the UK, USA,
\nIsrael, the Philippines, Japan and Thailand.<\/p>\n
Some 2 million travelers visited Vietnam last year, mostly
\ncoming from the United States, Japan and Taiwan. The number of
\nIndonesian visitors reached 3,000 people last year. They mainly
\nvisited Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.<\/p>\n
Hai said that the representative offices in Jakarta and
\nSurabaya would offer attractive tourism packages focusing on 12
\ntourist destinations.<\/p>\n
With the more aggressive campaign, the number of Indonesians
\nvisiting Vietnam was expected to increase to about 5,000 people
\nthis year, he said.<\/p>\n
Hai said that his office would also cooperate with Indonesian
\ntravel agencies in promoting Vietnamese tourist destinations in
