Transvestite gets six months jail for theft<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A judge at the Central Jakarta District Court
\nsentenced on Tuesday defendant Amin Buchori, alias Ratna, to six
\nmonths in jail for stealing Rp 50,000 (US$6.8) from witness R.
\nBagoes Trihono last December.<\/p>\n
"The defendant violated article 363 of the Criminal Code by
\ncommitting a theft," said presiding judge Musa Simatupang in a
\nhearing at the district court.<\/p>\n
The verdict was lighter than the term sought by the
\nprosecutor, who earlier demanded the judge sentence him to one
\nyear in jail.<\/p>\n
The defendant admitted that he took the initiative by seducing
\nthe 20-year-old witness as he was walking alone on Jl. Medan
\nMerdeka Barat in Central Jakarta at 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 3, last
\nyear.<\/p>\n
The spot, which is located at the edge of National Monument
\nPark and only several meters away from the State Palace, is a
\npopular place for transvestites and prostitutes to offer their
\nservices to passersby or motorists.<\/p>\n
The defendant said he was attracted to the witness, whom he
\ndescribed him as charming young man.<\/p>\n
"I asked him for a cigarette, and then took his hand and led
\nhim into the park," Amin said.<\/p>\n
"We went to a dark place where I usually mojok (a slang word
\nfor committing an intimate act)," he said, causing the spectators
\nand the judges to burst into laughter.<\/p>\n
He said he asked the witness to pay only Rp 10,000 for the
\nservice, which was approved by the witness.<\/p>\n
"The amount was not important as he was such an attractive
\nyoung man," he said, adding that they had been intimate for half
\nan hour.<\/p>\n
"We repeatedly kissed and each other touched parts of our
\nbodies. But when I asked him to take off his pants, he refused,"
\nsaid the defendant.<\/p>\n
The witness' rejection prompted the defendant's anger.<\/p>\n
"It was okay for me if he did not pay for the service, since
\nhe was attractive. But he rejected me," he said.<\/p>\n
The defendant then asked the witness to pay Rp 10,000 again,
\nand this time it was also rejected. "I then got his wallet, and
\ntook out Rp 50,000," he said.<\/p>\n
"We quarreled, but the witness fled the scene, taking his
\nwallet with him," said the defendant.<\/p>\n
But, an hour later, the witness returned with several police
\nofficers from the nearby Jatibaru Police subprecinct, who then
