A suggestion has come from the Organda transportation industry
\nassociation to increase the fares of public transportation
\nvehicles in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
This is bad news for users of the public transport system as
\nthe price hike will not be coupled with service improvements, and
\nbesides salaries are not increasing.<\/p>\n
A city bus is almost always overloaded with passengers and
\nriding them is an unpleasant experience because of the traffic
\njams. If we take a taxi the cost is exorbitant.<\/p>\n
So far there has never been a price hike accompanied by
\nimproved public transportation services. On the contrary, there
\nhas been a decline in the quality of services like, for example,
\nthe Patas bus which is supposed to be better than the average bus
\nhas turned out to be just like any other bus service.<\/p>\n
This situation has created skepticism toward promises made by
\nthe government and the bus industry itself.<\/p>\n
