        "content": "<p>Transport works tendered<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Transportation said yesterday<br>\nthat it will tender all the projects for the construction of<br>\ntransportation facilities which are offered to the private sector<br>\nunder a build-operate-and-transfer scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary General of the Ministry of Transportation<br>\nMuchtarudin Siregar denied accusations that his ministry did not<br>\ntender many of its transportation projects.<\/p>\n<p>The building of the container terminal in Tanjung Priok port<br>\nby Humpuss and a new airport in Medan, North Sumatra, by PT Citra<br>\nLamtorogung Persada, for example, had been tendered with normal<br>\nprocedures, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Both companies belong to the children of President Soeharto,<br>\nhis youngest son Hutomo Mandala Putra and eldest daughter Siti<br>\nHardiyanti Rukmana.<\/p>\n<p>The container terminal project is estimated to cost Rp 800<br>\nbillion (US$370 million) and the airport project Rp 2 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>\"The construction of the Rp 7 trillion Mass Rapid Transport<br>\n(MRT) project in the Jakarta greater area will also be tendered<br>\naccording to normal procedures,\" Siregar was quoted by Antara<br>\nnews agency as saying here.<\/p>\n<p>Last week's meeting of the Consultative Group for Indonesia<br>\n(CGI) suggested that the building of mega projects in Indonesia<br>\nshould be offered to contractors through tenders.<\/p>\n<p>Siregar said private sector companies interested in<br>\ntransportation projects can ask the government for explanation.<\/p>\n<p>He said there will be more mega transportation projects which<br>\nwill be offered to private sector companies, including an<br>\nintegrated station in Mangarai, Central Jakarta, and<br>\ninternational airports in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, and in<br>\nSolo, Central Java.
