Transport works tendered<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Transportation said yesterday
\nthat it will tender all the projects for the construction of
\ntransportation facilities which are offered to the private sector
\nunder a build-operate-and-transfer scheme.<\/p>\n

\nMuchtarudin Siregar denied accusations that his ministry did not
\ntender many of its transportation projects.<\/p>\n
The building of the container terminal in Tanjung Priok port
\nby Humpuss and a new airport in Medan, North Sumatra, by PT Citra
\nLamtorogung Persada, for example, had been tendered with normal
\nprocedures, he said.<\/p>\n
Both companies belong to the children of President Soeharto,
\nhis youngest son Hutomo Mandala Putra and eldest daughter Siti
\nHardiyanti Rukmana.<\/p>\n
The container terminal project is estimated to cost Rp 800
\nbillion (US$370 million) and the airport project Rp 2 trillion.<\/p>\n
\"The construction of the Rp 7 trillion Mass Rapid Transport
\n(MRT) project in the Jakarta greater area will also be tendered
\naccording to normal procedures,\" Siregar was quoted by Antara
\nnews agency as saying here.<\/p>\n
Last week's meeting of the Consultative Group for Indonesia
\n(CGI) suggested that the building of mega projects in Indonesia
\nshould be offered to contractors through tenders.<\/p>\n
Siregar said private sector companies interested in
\ntransportation projects can ask the government for explanation.<\/p>\n
He said there will be more mega transportation projects which
\nwill be offered to private sector companies, including an
\nintegrated station in Mangarai, Central Jakarta, and
\ninternational airports in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, and in
