Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2013 Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has\nstrengthened Java-Sumatra crossing services ahead of the Lebaran 2026\npeak migration period on 16 and 18 March to ensure smooth public\nmobility during the Hijri year 1447 transport season.<\/p>\n
Dudy stated that he had inspected three ports in the Banten region,\nnamely PT Bandar Bakau Jaya (BBJ) Bojonegara Port, Ciwandan Port, and\nMerak Port, from Sunday evening (15 March) through Monday early morning\n(16 March).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to ensure the smooth management of Java-Sumatra crossing\noperations, both for cargo and passenger vehicles at these three ports,\u201d\nthe Transport Minister said in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n
He reported that BBJ Bojonegara Port conditions on Sunday evening\nappeared busy and flowing smoothly, with the overall port situation\nappearing safe and under control.<\/p>\n
The minister noted that 12 vessels are operating at BBJ Bojonegara\nPort. According to him, this number remains sufficient to transport\nlogistics vehicles heading to Sumatra.<\/p>\n
He explained that the Transport Ministry, together with relevant\nstakeholders, has prepared mitigation measures in case there is a\nsignificant increase in cargo vehicles at BBJ Bojonegara Port.<\/p>\n
He disclosed that vehicles would be directed towards buffer zones at\nkilometre markers 43 and 68 until port conditions normalise. Additional\nmitigation has included parking areas in the PT BAM region capable of\naccommodating up to 4,000 vehicles.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough Merak Port appears relatively quiet, logistics vehicles in\ncategories 7, 8, and 9 heading to Sumatra will still pass through BBJ\nBojonegara Port. We must remain consistent with the agreements that have\nbeen made,\u201d the minister stated.<\/p>\n
At Ciwandan and Merak Ports, the minister observed busy yet smooth\nconditions during his inspection. At these two ports, migrants using\nmotorcycles and cars only queue to board vessels with no congestion\noccurring outside the port area.<\/p>\n
Based on data compiled by PT ASDP, Dudy continued, passenger arrivals\ncrossing from Java to Sumatra on H-6 Lebaran reached 48,286 persons,\nwhilst two-wheeled vehicles crossing during the same period totalled\n4,446 units.<\/p>\n
The minister revealed that service provision by operators and field\npersonnel to migrants has thus far been satisfactory and measured.\nNevertheless, he promised to conduct a comprehensive evaluation should\nany services fall short of optimal standards.<\/p>\n
He added that facilities at Ciwandan and Merak Ports are already\nadequate for serving migrants. Various facilities have been provided,\nranging from rest areas, children\u2019s play spaces, health posts,\nworkshops, to UMKM (micro, small and medium enterprise) food stalls\navailable at all times.<\/p>\n
He also urged all relevant stakeholders to continue coordinating to\nensure the management of Lebaran outbound and return traffic at BBJ\nBojonegara, Ciwandan, and Merak Ports proceeds smoothly according to\noperational plans.<\/p>\n
\u201cShould adverse weather occur, such as high waves, the port authority\n(KSOP) must immediately inform field personnel.
