        "content": "<p>Garut \u2014 Indonesia\u2019s Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has reminded\nmudik travellers to use main routes that have been verified as safe from\npotential natural disasters whilst avoiding travel during rainy\nconditions throughout the 2026 Lebaran exodus period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are promoting this to travellers so that when choosing their\nroutes, they select safe routes,\u201d Dudy told journalists following a\nworking visit to oversee compensation provision for delman (horse-drawn\ncarriage) drivers in Garut Regency, West Java, on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the government has made various preparations to ensure\nthe safety and smooth flow of traffic for mudik travellers during the\n2026 Eid al-Fitr occasion.<\/p>\n<p>The central government has coordinated with various parties,\nincluding regional authorities, to map which areas along mudik routes\nare disaster-prone zones. He indicated that mapping natural\ndisaster-prone areas along routes that will be heavily used by mudik\nvehicles will serve as information to encourage the public to be more\ncautious and remain vigilant against natural disaster threats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are instructing regional authorities to map disaster-prone\nlocations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that mudik travellers need not only know safe routes from\nnatural disasters but can also consider travel timing by checking\ncurrent weather information before beginning their journey.<\/p>\n<p>Such preparations through weather condition checks, according to him,\nrepresent steps to minimise risk and disruptions during mudik\ntravel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen planning to travel, it is also advisable to choose days when\nrain is unlikely, and so forth, and not to force oneself if conditions\ndo not permit,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
