        "content": "<p>Transparency in business essential<\/p>\n<p>Given the fact that the absence of corporate governance is one<br>\nof the reasons our economy has gone bankrupt, making our<br>\nbusinesses sound and transparent is an important precondition for<br>\nrestoring our national economy. It is not only the government<br>\nthat must be clean, business players too must possess<br>\ncredibility.<\/p>\n<p>For certain it will not be easy to meet this need for<br>\ntransparency, but this new era demands that businesses are<br>\nmanaged professionally and stay away from engaging in collusive<br>\nand nepotistic practices. There is no other choice for Indonesian<br>\nbusinesses if they intend to join the world of professional<br>\nenterprise.<\/p>\n<p>A decree issued by the minister of trade and industry<br>\nrequiring businesses to submit yearly financial reports is an<br>\nindispensable policy measure and must therefore be honored and<br>\nobserved by everyone concerned. We have no desire to have a<br>\nrepeat of this economic crisis, which was caused by the absence<br>\nof transparency in our business management. It is true that<br>\nbusiness expansion in past years has contributed to the<br>\nabsorption of a good part of our labor force, but the dear cost<br>\nof such uncontrolled expansion has been all-encompassing.
