        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Transmigration (Kementrans) is committed to\nsynergising support for the development of various economic potentials\nin Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan, ranging from plantations and\nagriculture to fisheries.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Regent of Katingan Firdaus met with Deputy Minister of\nTransmigration Viva Yoga Mauladi in Jakarta on Friday morning to present\nthe region\u2019s economic potential and the challenges faced by local\nbusiness operators.<\/p>\n<p>Katingan Regency possesses potential in oil palm and rubber\nplantations, as well as rice farming, supported by a rice milling\nfacility with a capacity of up to 1.5 tonnes per hour, along with cold\nstorage and an ice factory for the fisheries industry.<\/p>\n<p>However, the area lacks adequate supporting infrastructure. Village\nroads, main roads, and bridges often become muddy and impassable during\nrain, and the condition of the ferry port is also substandard.<\/p>\n<p>Viva stated that his ministry is forging various collaborations with\nother ministries, state-owned enterprises, and national and foreign\nprivate companies to develop transmigration areas.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the development of agricultural and fisheries\ninfrastructure, he said the ministry would synergise with the Ministry\nof Public Works, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Marine\nAffairs and Fisheries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can even cooperate with the government and companies from China,\u201d\nhe said, as quoted from an official statement received in Denpasar,\nBali, on Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p>As for the improvement of roads, bridges, and port facilities in\nKatingan, Viva noted that this would be coordinated with the relevant\nministries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough there is no transmigration area in Katingan yet, we will\ncoordinate the existing aspirations with the relevant ministries. We\nsupport all development for the people\u2019s welfare,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned that there are currently transmigration settlement units\n(SP) in Katingan located on Pulau Malan, Pulau Tewang Beringin, and\nHyang Bana SP-1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTransmigrant placements occurred in 2007 and also in 2011\/2012. In\nthese two settlement units, there are 950 families,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Several areas that have developed into transmigration zones in\nCentral Kalimantan include Belantikan Raya (Lamandau Regency), Jelai\n(Sukamara Regency), Lamunti and Dadahup (Kapuas Regency), Tumbang Jutuh\n(Gunung Mas Regency), and Arut Selatan and Kotawaringin Lama (West\nKotawaringin Regency).<\/p>",
