        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2013 RJ (48), a Transjakarta bus driver who struck and killed a\nmotorcyclist on Gunung Sahari Street, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta on\nWednesday, 4 March 2026, remains under witness status.<\/p>\n<p>Metro Jaya Police Chief of Traffic, Brigadier Kombes Pol Komarudin,\nstated that his office continues to investigate the driver. \u201cHis status\nis as a witness. The investigation process is ongoing as we examine what\nfacts may emerge, in addition to the legal aspects of the accident\nitself,\u201d Komarudin explained when met at Silang Selatan Monas, Central\nJakarta, on Thursday, 12 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred when the motorcycle, ridden by the victim with\ninitials SP (23), attempted to overtake the Transjakarta bus. Due to\ninsufficient distance and being in the bus driver\u2019s blind spot, the\ndriver could not see the motorcyclist clearly.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the bus driven by RJ (48) was travelling at a low\nspeed, but was unable to stop the vehicle quickly. \u201cWith a speed of only\naround 30 km\/h, the vehicle could not stop. Large vehicles do not brake\nlike small vehicles that stop immediately when braked; large vehicles\nhave deceleration,\u201d Komarudin explained.<\/p>\n<p>In a previous report, Transjakarta\u2019s Head of Public Relations and\nCorporate Social Responsibility, Ayu Wardhani, explained the collision\nsequence involving the motorcyclist and the Transjakarta bus on Gunung\nSahari Street, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Based on CCTV footage, the accident allegedly occurred when the\nmotorcyclist attempted to overtake the bus from the left side at high\nspeed to enter the bus lane.<\/p>\n<p>The motorcyclist who died was taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital\n(RSCM), Cikini, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>One person riding on the motorcycle sustained injuries and was taken\nto Hermina Podomoro Hospital, North Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The bus fleet has been secured at the Pancoran Traffic Accident Unit.\nTransjakarta has also submitted the CCTV footage.<\/p>",
