        "content": "<p>Transit project pact accepted<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (AFP): A leading Thai environmentalist has accepted a<br>\ncourt brokered disclosure agreement and withdrawn a lawsuit that<br>\nsought to block construction of a mass transit system in Bangkok,<br>\na statement seen yesterday said.<\/p>\n<p>Chodchoy Sophonpanich accepted the agreement proposed on<br>\nThursday by the Civil Court here and dropped the suit against the<br>\nBangkok Metropolitan Administration, according to the statement<br>\nreleased by her office.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement requires BMA and the private Bangkok Transit<br>\nSystem Corp. (BTSC) to give Chodchoy details about the 24-<br>\nkilometer (14.9-mile), $1. 3-billion elevated rail system that<br>\nBTSC is building in the capital.<\/p>\n<p>Among other things, the city administration must reveal what<br>\neffects the construction and operation of the system will have on<br>\nthe environment and on Bangkok residents. Chodchoy, president of<br>\nthe Thai Environmental Association, had been joined in the suit<br>\nby 74 other plaintiffs.<\/p>",
