        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com \u2014 The increase in train passengers in the first\nquarter of 2026 indicates that transportation access is becoming closer\nand facilitating public mobility in various areas.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the first quarter of 2026, the KA Pariaman Ekspres service\nrecorded 382,748 passengers, a 10.16% growth compared to the same period\nthe previous year, which reached 347,459 customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis increase reflects the increasingly high mobility of the public,\nwhile also showing that short-distance journeys are becoming part of\ndaily routines or weekend activities,\u201d said KAI Vice President of Public\nRelations Anne Purba in an official statement on Sunday (19\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The KA Pariaman Ekspres service covers the Pauh Lima\u2013Padang\u2013Naras\nroute with round trips of approximately 75 kilometres. Since the\nimplementation of the 2025 train schedule (Gapeka 2025), the operational\nfrequency has been increased to five round trips per day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith an affordable fare of Rp 5,000, this service is a practical and\neconomical transportation alternative for daily needs or recreational\ntrips,\u201d Anne continued.<\/p>\n<p>Along the journey, the railway line runs parallel to the coastal\narea. Passengers can enjoy views of the open sea, rows of coconut trees,\nand community activities along the beach, especially when approaching\nthe Pariaman area.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival in Pariaman, Gandoriah Beach, located not far from the\nstation, becomes one of the favourite destinations. Visitors can stroll\nalong the beachfront, enjoy local cuisine such as sala lauak, and spend\ntime with family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKA Pariaman Ekspres has become part of the public\u2019s journeys, both\nfor routine activities and when wanting to enjoy weekend time,\u201d said\nAnne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis short journey offers a different experience on each route.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anne added that KAI continues to evaluate services by listening to\ncustomer feedback and adjusting to current travel needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the public who want to fill the weekend in a simple way, this\njourney can be a choice,\u201d Anne concluded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the city to the coast, the trip feels concise, with a memorable\nexperience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The numbers increased to 8,488 customers in 2023, then 12,430 in\n2024, 12,847 in 2025, and reached 16,110 customers in the first quarter\nof 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA similar increase is also seen in the number of customers alighting\nat that station,\u201d said Anne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom 3,146 people in 2022, the number jumped to 8,422 in 2023, then\n12,612 in 2024, increased to 14,142 in 2025, and rose again to 16,063\ncustomers in the first quarter of 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anne explained that Pegaden Baru Station had previously not served\nlong-distance train passenger boarding and alighting, but it is now back\nas part of community activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see the growing enthusiasm of the public,\u201d said Anne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPegaden Baru is once again used as a departure and arrival point, in\nline with the increasingly diverse travel needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Closer access is changing the way the public plans journeys.\nResidents who previously had to go to Haurgeulis Station or Bandung City\nnow have a departure point closer to their own area.<\/p>",
