Train service near normal<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Passenger train services were better on Saturday than
\nearlier in the week although there were still some canceled due
\nto flooding. Spokesman for state railway company PT KAI Zainal
\nAbidin said almost all intercity and city services were normal.<\/p>\n
Services at Gambir Station in Central Jakarta was not
\ndisrupted, despite floodwater that had been in front of the
\nstation since Friday night.<\/p>\n
As of Saturday, only one Argo Gede train, plying the Jakarta-
\nBandung route, was canceled, as the train had not yet arrived
\nfrom Bandung.<\/p>\n
All passengers were diverted to the Parahyangan that left at
\n6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
Zainal said he had not yet received a report explaining
\nwhy the train had been held up in Bandung. However, the Jakarta-
\nBandung route returned to normal after it was severed at Ciganea,
\nPurwakarta, West Java, on Friday due to flooding.<\/p>\n
Two city trains serving the Jakarta - Rangkasbitung route, one
\nin each direction, were canceled on Saturday due to flooding. Of
\na total of 350 electric train journeys, only the Jakarta-
\nTangerang journeys were canceled in the last four days.<\/p>\n
Flooding at Tanah Abang Station forced PT KAI to divert
\neconomy-class trains to Gambir.<\/p>\n
The Parahyangan and Argo Gede ticket counters looked unusually
\nquiet and scalpers found it hard to sell their tickets.<\/p>\n
Budi, 30, an employee at the Ministry of Finance, said it was
\neasy for him to get a Parahyangan ticket. \"I just want to go to
\nBandung for the weekend. A nice getaway at a time like this.\" --
