Police have elevated the case of the train accident at Bekasi Timur\nStation to the investigation phase. The police raised the status of the\ncase after gathering initial evidence and obtaining statements from\nseveral witnesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe case has now entered the investigation stage. We have conducted\nscene processing, witness examinations, and evidence collection,\nincluding CCTV footage,\u201d said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya\nRegional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in Central Jakarta on\nThursday (30\/4\/2026), quoted from detikNews.<\/p>\n
A total of 24 witnesses have been examined in this case.\nAdditionally, seven individuals who are said to have important roles in\ntrain operations are still being questioned.<\/p>\n
These seven people include staff from the train operations control\ncentre (Pusdalops), PPKA, signal operators, KRL train drivers, the Argo\nBromo Anggrek train driver, assistant drivers, and traffic\ncontrollers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe examinations are ongoing in Manggarai. A total of 24 witnesses\nhave been examined, and today there are an additional seven people whose\nstatements have been taken,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Metro Jaya Regional Police are also collaborating with the National\nPolice Headquarters Forensic Laboratory Centre (Puslabfor) to delve into\nthe cause of the accident. One aspect being investigated is the\npossibility of technical disruptions, including issues with the\nelectrical system or signals at the incident site.<\/p>\n
However, Budi emphasised that the online taxi driver involved in the\nincident remains a witness. The driver with initials RRP is known to\nhave only started working as a driver since 25 April 2026, or a few days\nbefore the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the statements of the driver or online taxi operator who has\nbeen questioned, the individual only started working on 25 April 2026.\nSo, just a few days before the incident. And he underwent one day of\ntraining,\u201d said Budi.<\/p>\n
Police will also examine the operational system and recruitment\nstandards of the online taxi company. This is to determine if there was\nany negligence in the recruitment or driver training process.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will provide further updates after the deepening investigation\nand case review,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
As is known, the Argo Bromo Anggrek train collided with a KRL at\nBekasi Timur Station on Monday (27\/4) night. The incident resulted in 16\ndeaths and 90 others injured.<\/p>\n
The accident began when a Green SM taxi stalled in the middle of the\nrailway tracks not far from Bekasi Timur Station due to an electrical\nshort circuit. The taxi was then hit by a KRL travelling from Cikarang\ntowards Jakarta. The KRL involved in the accident with the taxi then\nstopped in the middle of the tracks.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, a KRL heading to Cikarang stopped at Bekasi Timur\nStation as a result of the incident between the Jakarta-bound KRL and\nthe Green SM taxi.
