A basecamp for online motorcycle taxi drivers turned into a scene of\nhorror when Agus Tedjo, a driver, was stabbed to death whilst he slept.\nThe incident occurred on Sunday (12\/7) at around 03:50 WIB in the Villa\nTaman Bandara housing complex, Dadap, Kosambi, Tangerang Regency. Agus\nwas the victim of a robbery and murder.<\/p>\n
Agus was resting between jobs before dawn when the perpetrator,\nRahmat Dimas, passed by the basecamp. Spotting an unattended motorbike,\nhe intended to steal it. \u2018The victim was an online motorcycle taxi\ndriver. The victim lost a Honda PCX motorbike and a mobile phone,\u2019 said\nAKP Iwan Heristiawan, Head of Public Relations for the Tangerang City\nMetro Police, when contacted by journalists on Tuesday (14\/7).<\/p>\n
Without hesitation, Rahmat searched Agus\u2019s pocket for the keys. Agus\nimmediately awoke. Feeling cornered, Rahmat, who was carrying a knife,\nfuriously stabbed Agus. \u2018The victim was stabbed while sleeping. The\nvictim died at the scene, suffering a stab wound to the neck,\u2019 he\nstated.<\/p>\n
Rahmat\u2019s vicious act was quickly noticed by another ride-hailing\ndriver. However, Rahmat immediately fled with Agus\u2019s motorbike and\nphone. \u2018When (the victim\u2019s colleague) passed by again, he saw the\nvictim\u2019s motorbike being ridden away by an unknown person. He then gave\nchase until losing track of him in the Kamal area, North Jakarta,\u2019 he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Chased from Tangerang to North Jakarta by Agus\u2019s colleague, the\nwitness eventually lost Rahmat\u2019s trail and decided to return to the\nbasecamp. Tragically, Agus had already died at the scene.<\/p>\n
The police launched an investigation and Rahmat was eventually\ndetained by the Metro Jaya Regional Police. \u2018It is confirmed that a\njoint team from Sub-Directorate III for Fugitives\/Mobile Investigation\nof the Metro Jaya Police\u2019s General Criminal Investigation Directorate\nhas secured a man with the initials RD alias D (25),\u2019 said Metro Jaya\nPolice Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to\njournalists on Tuesday (14\/7).<\/p>\n
Rahmat was arrested on Tuesday at 00:30 WIB in a rented room on Jalan\nBunderan Kamal, Kamal Muara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. He was captured\nwhilst on the run. Rahmat was also reported to have resisted arrest and\nwas shot by officers. \u2018He also fled the crime scene and his residence.\nHe resisted the officers conducting the arrest and pursuit, so our\nSub-Directorate for Mobile Investigation took firm, measured action\nagainst the perpetrator,\u2019 said Chief of Unit V, Sub-Directorate for\nMobile Investigation, Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Arief Ryzki\nWicaksana.<\/p>\n
Police revealed Rahmat\u2019s excuse for murdering and robbing Agus.
