Can we hope for the city authority to bring order to the
\nchaotic traffic on the road in front of the campus of Christian
\nUniversity of Indonesia (UKI) in Cawang?<\/p>\n
On June 27 I witnessed a tragic accident there. In the midst
\nof the rush hours a PPD 900 A city bus serving the Depok-Pasar
\nBaru route ran over the thighs of a man who unfortunately fell
\nwhile jostling to get onto the bus.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of people who saw it were obviously shocked and
\naghast, but none of them hurried to help the bleeding man. Nearby
\nwas a police guard post, and several police were close by
\ndirecting heavy traffic. But they did not act to help and carry
\nhim to the UKI university hospital, only scores of meters away in
\nthe campus compound.<\/p>\n
On my part, I was already late for work and, besides, I
\ncouldn't stand to watch the blood drenching the injured man's
\nlower part.<\/p>\n
Who was to blame? Not the bus for it was only moving slowly.<\/p>\n
The fact is that the location in front of the UKI university
\nhas become a hub of public transportation traffic, with all sorts
\nof people coming from and going to many places constantly forming
\ncrowds there. A picture of the daily scene there had once
\nappeared in the papers.<\/p>\n
I would say it's now time for the authorities to bring order
\nto the chaos.<\/p>\n
