The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) has implemented traffic engineering measures for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming exodus, based on vehicle flow generation to determine optimal timings and schemes, including one-way systems on major toll roads. Direct monitoring is being conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation from toll roads to Merak Port to ensure integrated flow control. These arrangements, part of the Ketupat Operation emphasising humanitarian aspects, have so far kept traffic to Banten and the Merak-Bakauheni crossing manageable without additional restrictions.

The Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General of Police Agus
Suryonugroho, emphasised that traffic engineering during the 2026 Eid
al-Fitr homecoming flow is formulated based on vehicle flow generation.
This approach is used to determine the timing and schemes for
regulations, including the implementation of one-way systems on main
toll road sections.

Korlantas Polri, together with the Ministry of Transportation
(Kemenhub), is conducting direct monitoring in the field, from toll
roads to the Merak Port area. This step ensures that flow control runs
in an integrated manner from upstream to downstream.

“We have carried out socialisation since the afternoon due to the
increase in vehicle flow generation,” said Agus at Merak Port on
Wednesday (18/3/2026).

He explained that the traffic engineering is applied gradually,
starting with a sectional one-way from Km 70 to Km 263 on Tuesday
(17/3/2026). That scheme was then upgraded to a national one-way from Km
70 to Km 414 Kalikangkung on Wednesday (18/3/2026) in the afternoon
WIB.

The arrangements are focused on easing vehicle density heading
towards Trans Java. Meanwhile, the flow towards the Banten region and
the Merak-Bakauheni crossing remains under control. “The flow towards
Banten and the crossing is still quite manageable, so one-way has not
yet been implemented in that direction,” he stated.

Agus added that traffic engineering is part of the Ketupat Operation,
which prioritises humanitarian aspects. The arrangements are not only on
toll roads but also connected with management at the ports.
",
