Trading gallery opened at Roxymas<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): PT Bursa Paralel Indonesia, the operator of the
\nover-the-counter stock market, opened yesterday its first trading
\ngallery on the Roxymas shopping center to promote the retail
\ntrading of stocks.<\/p>\n
The gallery, named Warung Pasar Modal which literally means
\ncapital market shop, was officially opened by Chairman of the
\nCapital Market Supervisory Agency Bacelius Ruru.<\/p>\n
Bursa Paralel's president, Tito Sulistio, said that the stock
\nmarket gallery provided not only information of listed stocks and
\nbonds but also trading facilities.<\/p>\n
\"The establishment of the gallery is another approach to
\nsocialize the capital market activities,\" he told reporters
\nfollowing the opening of the trading facilities.<\/p>\n
He said that the trading facilities at the gallery are linked
\nto computers of the bourse's members to enable users to make
\ndirect transactions.<\/p>\n
Tito said brokerage companies which will handle transactions
\nat the gallery included PT Sinarmas Ekagraha, PT Harumdana
\nSecurities, PT Philindo, PT Argha Artha Securities and PT Kosa
\nSecurities.<\/p>\n
Shares which are available at the gallery include odd-lot
\nstock companies listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchanges (JSX) such
\nas those of Astra International, Barito Pacific, Bank Dagang
\nNasional Indonesia, Indah Kiat, Tjiwi Kimia, Prodenta, Lippobank,
\nSekar Bumi, Metrodata and Jafpa.<\/p>\n
Bursa Paralel recently took over the odd-lot trading of the
\nJSX to facilitate retail trading activities.<\/p>\n
Shares on the JSX are traded in lots of 500 stocks. The
\nbourse, had, in fact, opened an odd-lot trading board specially
\ndesigned for the transactions of stocks of less than 500 in
\nnumber but many brokerage companies were often reluctant to carry
\nout such a deal due to a low commission.<\/p>\n
Sulistio said that the trading of stocks at the gallery was
\nmade in lots of 100 shares to facilitate small-scale investors.<\/p>\n
He said that the opening of the gallery had no relation to the
\nplanned merger of Bursa Paralel with the Surabaya Stock
