        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) has assured the\npublic that they need not worry about the availability of cooking oil,\nincluding Minyakita, in the market, even though the domestic market\nobligation (DMO) for palm oil has declined in step with falling crude\npalm oil (CPO) exports.<\/p>\n<p>Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Iqbal\nShoffan Shofwan, said the government has issued Minister of Trade\nRegulation (Permendag) No.\u00a020 of 2026, which ensures that cooking oil\nsupplies \u2014 whether Minyakita, premium packaged brands, or second brands\n\u2014 remain available in the market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is Permendag 20 of 2026 which guarantees that this Republic,\nas one of the world\u2019s largest palm oil producers, will not face a\ncooking oil shortage. We regulate not only Minyakita but also premium\nand second-brand cooking oils, which must be available in the market,\nespecially the people\u2019s market,\u201d said Iqbal at the Ministry of Trade\noffice in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Iqbal explained that the decline in DMO does not automatically mean\nMinyakita supplies will become scarce. According to him, the DMO\nobligation only applies when producers export CPO and its derivative\nproducts.<\/p>\n<p>Based on a Ministry of Trade report presented at the Regional\nInflation Coordination Meeting on Monday (20\/7\/2026), DMO supplies show\na declining trend compared with last year. As of 17 July 2026, CPO DMO\nstood at 53,059 tonnes, still lower than June 2026 at 102,625 tonnes,\nand far below the July 2025 DMO which reached 215,359 tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Iqbal stressed that the government has anticipated\ndomestic cooking oil needs through Permendag No.\u00a020 of 2026. Under\nArticle 4A of the regulation, producers are required to supply packaged\ncooking oil to meet household consumption needs in the domestic\nmarket.<\/p>\n<p>He also rejected the assumption that the decline in DMO signals that\nproducers will stop exporting CPO. According to him, export decisions\ndepend entirely on international market demand and the business\nmechanisms of each company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether producers export or not depends on their\nbusiness-to-business (B2B) arrangements. There may or may not be demand\nabroad,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Iqbal added that, based on the Ministry of Trade\u2019s monitoring, CPO\nexports over the past two years have tended to be stable despite\nseasonal fluctuations.<\/p>",
