        "content": "<p>Trade financing for Indonesia<\/p>\n<p>TOKYO (Nikkei): The Ministry of International Trade and<br>\nIndustry has started applying stricter criteria in providing<br>\ntrade insurance for projects in Indonesian, the Nihon Keizai<br>\nShimbun reported Wednesday quoting ministry sources.<\/p>\n<p>MITI has reduced the number of Indonesian banks that are<br>\nqualified to extend debt guarantees for local projects that<br>\nreceive trade insurance to 33 from 42. All twenty non-Indonesian<br>\nbanks remain qualified, but the number of locally-owned banks has<br>\nbeen nearly halved from 22, ministry officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Those with low net worth or exhibit other indications of poor<br>\nfinancial standings lost their qualified status.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry has also introduced a system to continuously<br>\nmonitor the financial conditions at healthy Indonesian companies<br>\nthat are qualified for its trade insurance without bank<br>\nguarantees.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the credit ratings of such businesses were<br>\nreviewed every six months. Almost 400 companies are being<br>\nmonitored at present.<\/p>",
