TPS opens tender for crane<\/p>\n
SURABAYA: Container terminal operator PT Terminal Petikemas
\nSurabaya (TPS) has opened a procurement tender for a crane worth
\nUS$5.5 million to replace the old one that collapsed on Feb. 7 in
\na heavy storm.<\/p>\n
Company president director Satoto Prayasutiksno said that
\nthere were several companies from Japan, South Korea and
\nArgentina interested to join the tender.<\/p>\n
He hoped that the crane could be acquired immediately so that
\noperations could return to normal.<\/p>\n
TPS currently has a total of 10 cranes in operation.<\/p>\n
For the full year, TPS expected its container volume to reach
\n1 million twenty-feet equivalent units (TEUs) from around 800,000
\nlast year, said Satoto.<\/p>\n
As of October, the container volume managed by TPS had reached
\n815,851 TEUs, delivered by 1,160 ships.<\/p>\n
State-owned seaport operator PT Pelindo III owns 51 percent
\nshares in TPS, and P&O Ports, a division of P&O Australia Ltd.,
\nowns the remaining 49 percent.<\/p>\n
TPS is located in Indonesia's second largest port Tanjung
\nPerak Port in Surabaya, East Java. The terminal has a capacity of
