'TPI' should be more professional<\/p>\n

I was disappointed with the Special Dialog program aired by
\nprivate television station TPI on March 19. The topic was The
\nMemorandum of the House of Representatives regarding the alleged
\ninvolvement of the President in money scandals related to Bulog
\nand Sultan Brunei's financial gift. With Anas Urbaningrum as the
\nmoderator, the discussion was participated in by an expert in
\nconstitutional law, former justice and human rights minister
\nYusril Ihza Mahendra, Jimly Asidiqie and Sri Sumantri. One got
\nthe impression, however, that TPI intentionally invited experts
\nof the same camp.<\/p>\n
As a result, they seemed to be in unison in their ideas about
\nthe topic of discussion. Then tended to "attack" those
\ndisagreeing with them. The dialog seemed to have justified the
\nideas of only one party in viewing this matter, which still draws
\npros and cons in the society.<\/p>\n
To prove its professionalism and avoid any allegation that it
\nhas been made use of to shape public opinion about the topic of
\nthe dialog, TPI should have invited constitutional law experts
\nhaving different views from the three experts referred to above,
\nlike Harun Al Rasyid for example.<\/p>\n
If experts of different camps are involved, viewers can judge
\nfor themselves which opinions are sound, objective and reasonable
\nand which are not. It is no longer the time now to direct the
\ncommunity towards a particular political views.<\/p>\n
I really like the Pro-and-Con program on TPI because people of
\ndifferent backgrounds and opposite views are involved in a
\nbalanced manner, which is a strong evidence of impartiality and
\nprofessionalism that TV viewers appreciate greatly.<\/p>\n
