'TPI' cameraman murdered<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A cameraman of the private television network
\nTPI died after being stabbed outside his house in Kemanggisan,
\nWest Jakarta, on Wednesday, police said yesterday.<\/p>\n
The man died after being refused treatment by two hospitals,
\nwho told his relatives that they did not have the facilities to
\ncope with an emergency.<\/p>\n
Capt. Fachrudin of the Palmerah police precinct said that M.
\nKamarullah bin Manaf, alias Akmal Chaniago, 40, died on his way
\nto Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
The police report described Akmal as having been stabbed with
\na sharp object in the left side of his chest.<\/p>\n
The autopsy report, prepared by a forensic team of the
\nUniversity of Indonesia, described the cause of the death as
\nmurder.<\/p>\n
Akmal is survived by his wife and a son.<\/p>\n
Fachrudin said the perpetrators were still at large and the
\nauthorities were still studying the motives for the murder. He
\nsaid it was possible that the murder was an act of revenge.<\/p>\n
\"We have been informed by his relatives that he didn't lose a
\nsingle thing. His wallet and personal effects were still there,\"
\nFachrudin told reporters at the victim's residence.<\/p>\n
He said that Akmal was stabbed on the street just outside his
\nhouse at approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\"Nobody saw the incident because people in this neighborhood
\nwere already inside their houses on the rainy night,\" said
\nSolihin, one of the victim's neighbors.<\/p>\n
Solihin, a food vendor in the neighborhood, found Akmal lying
\nin front of his small food stall, asking for help.<\/p>\n
According to the police, Akmal was still strong enough to get
\naway from his attacker. He came to the stall after he failed to
\nwake up his family.<\/p>\n
The nearby Patria Ika and Harapan Kita hospitals, to which he
\nwas rushed by relatives, refused to provide Akmal with treatment
\non the grounds that they had no emergency facilities.<\/p>\n
He died on the way to Cipto Mangunkusumo general hospital in
\nCentral Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Yadi, Akmal's younger brother, said Akmal was unable to speak
\nduring the trip and did not, therefore, provide any information
\nabout the attack.<\/p>\n
Police Officer Fachrudin said that the police would conduct
\nan intensive investigation into the murder. \"There's something
\nsuspicious behind his death,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He said that the police would question Akmal's relatives to
\nobtain more information about his daily life and what they knew
\nabout him in the days before his death.<\/p>\n
Among his colleagues, Akmal, who had been with the TV station
\nfor three years, was known as a happy man who liked to chat. His
